Donations to Museums

Specimens of insects and their relatives can be valuable. Specimens with collecting information can provide a historical account of species distribution and abundance. Specimens are valuable teaching tools for students of all ages. Selected specimens have monetary value and may be used to acquire tax deductions. However, stored insects require continuous attention and care to be properly preserved over long periods of time. Contributions of private insect collections to the larger body of science and curatorial services can be attained by donating specimens to an established curated insect collection. Anyone interested in donating insect collections should contact the curator of the insect collection at the Department of Entomology, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas 77843-2475 (979-845-9711) for details.
