Order Trichoptera (caddisflies) 245. CADDISFLIES,
many species. Immatures can be collected in streams and rivers by placing
a net downstream and dislodging objects such
as rocks and submerged vegetation. Examine the submerged objects for
larval cases
and the net for dislodged larvae that floated downstream. Immature stages
should be preserved in alcohol. Adults can be collected from lights at
night, killed by freezing or in a toxin-containing jar. They should be
pinned similar to small moths. | ||||||||||||
